National School Lunch Program is the second largest nutrition assistance
program in the United States with real potential to address childhood hunger
and ensure good nutrition. Sociologist Janet Poppendieck will discuss current
school food issues, while Al Muhlnickel (Poughkeepsie City School District Food
Service Director) and Sarah Brannen (Coordinator of the PCSD Farm to School
Project) will talk about best practices, and ideas for bringing more healthy,
fresh food to Poughkeepsie schools. Together the panelists will provide a rich
opportunity for dialogue and considering ways to make changes for the benefit
