It's Official

Country Wisdom News is now officially a nonprofit project of the Hudson Valley Current. After months of discussions, the HV Current board of directors accepted the donation of Country Wisdom News as an educational arm of the nonprofit organization. This is what led to the creation of Livelihood magazine, which you’ll now see in every issue of Country Wisdom.

As the executive director of the HV Current, I’m extremely passionate about our local currency project. One of the reasons I started CWN in 2010 was to highlight the brilliant people and wonderful organizations in our region. I really care about the success and happiness of our neighbors, so getting involved with the HV Current was a natural fit for me because local currencies help people and organizations to thrive in a vibrant local economy.

The intention of both organizations is very much aligned—to elevate and enlighten the region, strengthen the local economy, and create a resilient, interconnected community.

For over five years, CWN has published exactly the type of content that appeals to present and potential users of the Hudson Valley Current—and will continue to do so. And so, we see this as a harmonious and productive union.

I’d like to thank all of the people who made this harmonic convergence possible, with your advice, your ideas, your push back, and your support. Many thanks to David McCarthy, Maria Reidelbach, Mike Caslin, Dana Rudikoff, Nicole Fenichel-Hewitt, Bob Dandrew, MaryJo Johnson, Richard Bell, Marie Doyon, Harvey Garrett, Ken Fenichel, Laura Finestone, Brian Nieves, Eric Ortner, Susan Perrin, Antonino Hewitt, and so many more fabulous people.

I look forward to working with more of you in the coming decades. As it says a few times in this issue of Livelihood, a rising tide lifts all boats. I’m on the boat and I’m ready to ride the Current.

–Chris Hewitt

Country Wisdom News welcomes your feedback, submissions, and subscriptions ($40 for 12 issues of CWN and Livelihood per year). We’ll ship anywhere in the US and Canada.
