Bard Summerscape Dance: “Fantasque.” Magical new family-friendly dance event created by brilliant contemporary artists John Heginbotham and Amy Trompetter. “Fantasque” is a new ballet set to the gorgeous music of Giacomo Puccini’s contemporaries Ottorino Respighi and Gioachino Rossini. Show presents a realm of color and fantasy where larger-than-life puppets and jubilant dancers turn the usual rules of the physical world upside down. $25-60. Stormville Airport Antiques Show & Flea Market. One of New York’s largest and most popular outdoor flea markets with over 600 vendors from 8 different states. Gilded Age Scandals. Ruth and Ogden Mills were paragons of respectability, but several of their gilded age peers were not. Summer Garden Party at Wilderstein. Wilderstein’s annual benefit fundraiser, honoring the spirit of Frank & Martha Reardon and celebrating the restoration of the Wilderstein potting shed. Wilderstein Historic Site was home for Margaret (Daisy) Suckley (1891-1991), cousin and confidante of Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Monastery Vinegar Festival. Based on a medieval monastic recipe, the organic, artisanal vinegars produced by Our Lady of the Resurrection Monastery are crafted from a variety of wines, juices, and spices, as well as from pure local apple cider. During the festival, there will be an opportunity for tasting and sampling nine different vinegars, as well as an explanation of the production and slow fermentation process. Free. Darkside Records Open Mic Night. This is a free event open to performers of all kinds: singers, poets, dancers, fire-breathers, comedians, balloon-animal-makers, interpretive dancers, mimes, dreamers, magic makers, whatever your talent is - come and share it with us on our brand new stage. Movies Under the Walkway. Free, family-friendly movies will be shown on the big screen beneath the Walkway Over the Hudson at the Upper Landing Park in Poughkeepsie all summer long. Fun for the whole family will precede each movie. Please bring blankets and chairs. Local vendors will be on hand to provide food and beverages. Dutchess County Balloon Festival. Dozens of brightly colored hot-air balloons take to the mid-Hudson skies during early morning and evening launches from the Poughkeepsie waterfront and Dutchess County Airport. Balloon flights will be available for a fee of $200-225.  Launches take place at 6pm, Friday, Saturday, Sunday;6am launch on Saturday and Sunday. More info at balloonfesthv.com. Touch the Sky. Multi-media exhibition that explores art related to astronomy. Featuring more than 50 works by 18 artists (including two site-specific works created especially for the show, images of the moon, sun, planets, and stars made by artists since the nineteenth century.
